Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 October 2026
- Egoyibo lets you add naira to your Egoyibo balance by card, bank transfer or USSD and use it to buy airtime and data and pay electricity, cable TV and other bills.
- Money you add by card or other checkout payment can be used for bills but cannot be withdrawn to a bank account.
- You must be 18+, use your own identity and keep your PIN, password and devices secure.
- Check phone, meter and smartcard numbers carefully. A bill delivered to the wrong number usually cannot be reversed.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Egoyibo ("Egoyibo", "we", "us"). They apply when you use the Egoyibo website at egoyibo.com and app.egoyibo.com, and the Egoyibo mobile apps (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our AML & Fraud Policy, our Fees & Refunds Policy and our Cookie Policy, which form part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Egoyibo
To open and use an account you must:
- be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract;
- use your own real name, email address and phone number, and only ever hold one Egoyibo account;
- only use payment cards and bank accounts that belong to you;
- not be the subject of sanctions, or use the Service where it would be unlawful; and
- pass the identity checks described in our AML & Fraud Policy when we ask.
3. What the Service does
3.1 Balance and top-ups
Your Egoyibo balance is the naira you can spend on bills. You can add money using the payment options shown at checkout (card, bank transfer or USSD), processed by our licensed payment partner. Your balance is credited once the payment partner confirms the payment. Top-ups have minimum and maximum amounts, which are shown in the app.
3.2 Card-funded money
Money you add through checkout ("card-funded money") can be used to pay bills on Egoyibo. It cannot be withdrawn to a bank account or transferred to another person. This protects customers and card holders from fraud. When you pay a bill, card-funded money is used first. If that bill is refunded, the card-funded money returns to your balance as card-funded money.
3.3 Bill payments
You can buy airtime and data and pay for electricity, cable TV and other listed services from your balance. These are delivered by third-party providers. You are responsible for entering the correct phone number, meter number, smartcard number or customer ID. A bill paid to the wrong number can usually not be reversed.
3.4 Withdrawals
Any part of your balance that is not card-funded money can be withdrawn to any Nigerian bank account. We show you the account name from the bank before you confirm, and you are responsible for paying the right person: completed bank transfers can’t be reversed. You can save up to three accounts as beneficiaries.
4. Your account and security
- You must keep your password, transaction PIN, email account and devices secure, and not share them with anyone. Egoyibo staff will never ask for your password, PIN, card details or one-time codes.
- We confirm new devices by email, ask for your PIN or biometrics before bill payments, withdrawals and adding bank accounts, and sign you out after a period of inactivity. Do not try to bypass these protections.
- Anything done through your account with your credentials is treated as done by you, unless you told us promptly that your account was compromised.
- Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.
5. Limits and verification
Daily limits apply to how much you can add and spend. Verifying your identity in the app raises your limit. We may change limits, ask for more information, or require verification before you can continue, in line with our legal obligations and fraud controls.
6. Reviews, holds and suspension
We may delay, hold or refuse a top-up, bill payment or withdrawal, and we may restrict, freeze or close an account, where we reasonably believe this is needed to:
- comply with law, a court order or a request from a regulator or law-enforcement agency;
- investigate suspected fraud, stolen or disputed card payments, money laundering or other unlawful activity;
- protect you, card holders, other users or Egoyibo from loss; or
- deal with a technical error, such as a duplicate credit.
If a card payment you used to add money is reversed, disputed or charged back, we may deduct that amount from your balance and restrict your account until it is resolved.
7. What you must not do
- Use cards, bank accounts or identities that are not yours, or funds from fraud or any other illegal source.
- Open more than one account, let anyone else use your account, or resell the Service without our written agreement.
- Exploit bugs, pricing errors or delays, or attack, probe, scrape or overload the Service.
- Use the Service in a way that breaks any law.
8. Fees
Bill prices and any fees are shown on the confirmation screen before you pay. Details are in our Fees & Refunds Policy.
9. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Payment partners, banks and bill providers can be slow or unavailable, and we may pause top-ups, bills or withdrawals for maintenance or security. We may add, change or remove services, billers and providers at any time.
10. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. To the fullest extent allowed by law:
- we are not responsible for losses caused by your own mistakes, such as entering a wrong phone, meter, smartcard or bank number;
- we are not responsible for delays or failures caused by banks, payment partners, bill providers, internet outages or other events outside our reasonable control;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the naira amount of the transaction the claim relates to.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for our deliberate misconduct.
11. Closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing [email protected] from your registered email address. Use or withdraw your balance first. Withdrawable money will be paid to a verified bank account in your name. For card-funded money we will, where our payment partner allows, refund it to the original payment method, unless we are legally required to hold it. We may close your account with notice, or immediately where section 6 applies.
12. Complaints and disputes
If something has gone wrong, contact us first at [email protected] with your email address and the reference (for example DXT-… for top-ups, DXB-… for bills or DXW-… for withdrawals). We aim to acknowledge complaints within 2 business days and resolve them within 15 business days. If a dispute cannot be resolved this way, either of us may refer it to the courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will tell you about material changes by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a change is needed sooner to comply with the law or to protect customers' security. Changes that only benefit you, such as a lower fee, can take effect straight away. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the updated Terms.
